Preparation, time and schedule

What this route covers

A one-term route combining 40 hours of online lecture, 40 hours of in-person labs and 40 hours of clinical practice. Identical training is available in credit and noncredit versions, with different financial-aid rules.

Before you apply

Review the Nursing Assistant course map and have an advisor evaluate prior credits and placement before registering.

Your complete timeline

One term · 120 training hours. Allow separately for prerequisite preparation, selection and the clinical start date.

Plan around the schedule

Plan for about 8–24 hours per week. Clinical placements can be up to 30 miles from the school site; compare the current CLIMB Center and Sylvania timetables.

Application and selection

Use the official Nursing Assistant page to review the current entry checklist. Ask whether a separate department application, selection process or cohort start applies before committing to enrollment.

Details checked September 15, 2026. Confirm current requirements with the provider.

Questions to take to an advisor

Is the credit or noncredit option right for me, and which expenses and aid rules differ?

  • Which required courses or placements are offered only once per year?
  • Can you give me a written estimate covering every required term and practical expense?
  • Which employment, transfer or licensing requirements remain after this award?

Published program length is not a personal completion estimate. Transfer credits, prerequisites, selection and course availability can change the timeline.

After the program

Graduates must meet examination and state certification requirements before practicing as nursing assistants. Confirm eligibility for the state where you intend to work.
