PLAN YOUR PATH
Preparation, time and schedule
Before you apply
Complete HM 120, PSY 104, MTH 060 or higher, and WR 090 or higher with C grades or better before applying. Applicants need a diploma or GED and must be 18 by the program start. Meeting the minimum requirements does not secure a place; selection uses application points.
Your complete timeline
The 41-credit certificate includes a prerequisite term and two terms of MED coursework after selection. Additional preparation and application timing can extend your calendar time.
Plan around the schedule
The 2026-2027 packet lists weekday MED classes from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in McMinnville. Clinical shifts and mandatory orientation also require attendance. Confirm the actual clinical schedule and placement travel before arranging paid work.
Application and selection
For winter 2027, Chemeketa lists an October 5-18, 2026 application window. Check the official page for exact times, documents and changes. Read the packet before submitting the provider's application.

Questions to take to an advisor
Which start term, externship schedule and certification costs apply to my cohort?
- Which of my courses meet the prerequisites?
- Where and when would my clinical shifts take place?
- What is the corrected cost total, and which items are already included?
Published program length is not a personal completion estimate. Transfer credits, prerequisites, selection and course availability can change the timeline.
After the program
The certificate and medical-assisting certification are separate steps. Ask which exam is included and what employers require. This is not a nursing qualification.
Cost and outcomes
Provider estimate needs clarification
Chemeketa reports about $7,421 in tuition and fees for 2026-2027, including the listed prerequisite courses. Its displayed course lines and term subtotal do not fully reconcile; request a corrected itemized estimate. Prerequisite books, screening, health clearances, travel and living costs are extra. Some MED books, supplies and the listed certification exam are already included in course fees.
Published tuition or budget base
Effective summer 2026, resident tuition is $111 per credit plus a $39 per-credit universal fee ($150 combined) for these undergraduate certificate/associate courses. Course-specific charges are additional.
