PLAN YOUR PATH
Preparation, time and schedule
Before you apply
This PCC award is linked to registered apprenticeship, not ordinary open enrollment in electrician training. For the Manufacturing Plant Electrician example below, you need employment and sponsorship with an approved employer. PCC says it cannot place applicants into that employment. Requirements depend on the exact trade and committee.
Your complete timeline
The AAS requires at least 90 credits, with the exact requirement depending on the apprenticeship. Its two-year label is not the full training term. One linked example, MA #1018 Manufacturing Plant Electrician, requires 8,000 on-the-job hours and four years of core classes.
Plan around the schedule
That example combines employment with fall, winter, spring and summer classes. Confirm your worksite and course timetable separately. An employer on the registered list is not necessarily hiring or selecting apprentices.
Application and selection
Identify the specific apprenticeship first. For Manufacturing Plant Electrician, confirm employer sponsorship, then follow PCC's checklist for college admission, placement evidence, ID and transcripts. Other trades use different entry routes; this employer-sponsored process does not describe every Oregon apprenticeship.

Questions to take to an advisor
How do I apply to the apprenticeship committee? College admission alone does not secure an apprenticeship.
- Which trade and committee match the work I want?
- Does my employer sponsor this route, and is selection available?
- Who covers each cost, and when do wage increases apply?
Published program length is not a personal completion estimate. Transfer credits, prerequisites, selection and course availability can change the timeline.
After the program
PCC describes Manufacturing Plant Electrician completion as leading toward eligibility to test for a Plant Journey license. Its scope differs from other electrical licenses. College credit, registered apprenticeship completion and permission to do particular electrical work are distinct.
Cost and outcomes
Apprentice and employer shares need confirmation
A complete apprentice-paid total is not verified. Ask who covers tuition, books, tools, safety training, travel and exam/license costs. Get actual wage progression and reimbursement conditions from the employer and committee. Paid training does not mean every expense is covered.
Published tuition or budget base
For separately billed PCC credit coursework, the published resident base is $143 tuition, $4.25 student activity and $7.35 technology fees per credit, plus a $15 per-term college service fee. Course and other charges may apply. Confirm which credits you must pay for and which charges your employer or apprenticeship committee covers; this is not a full apprenticeship price.

A tuition rate or annual allowance is not a complete program price. Confirm your residency, course load, program fees and financial aid before comparing costs.

These are outcomes for related electrical-installation associate-degree graduates, not everyone who starts or completes a registered apprenticeship. The published combined-cohort figure does not isolate a particular employer or committee. No exact-program earnings are separately verified here.
