PLAN YOUR PATH
Preparation, time and schedule
Before you apply
Use the pre-advising requirements and current application materials for your route, rather than the bridge requirements unless you are an eligible LPN.
Your complete timeline
OCCC offers an AAS nursing route and a separate LPN-to-RN bridge for eligible licensed practical nurses. Ask for a term-by-term plan that includes prerequisites, transfer decisions and application timing.
Plan around the schedule
Confirm class, simulation and clinical locations along the coast and any travel outside Newport.
Application and selection
Use the pre-advising requirements and current application materials for your route, rather than the bridge requirements unless you are an eligible LPN. Apply through the provider’s program-specific process and confirm the next cohort before paying fees.

Questions to take to an advisor
What prerequisites come before the two-year sequence, and where could my clinical placements be?
- What is included in the written price, and what would I pay separately?
- What support is available if my work schedule, disability accommodations or family responsibilities affect attendance?
Published program length is not a personal completion estimate. Transfer credits, prerequisites, selection and course availability can change the timeline.
After the program
The nursing degree and authorization to practice are separate. Confirm graduation, NCLEX-RN and state licensing steps before assuming you can start work as an RN.
