PLAN YOUR PATH
Preparation, time and schedule
Before you apply
Compare your placement and prior welding experience with the entry requirements for the AAS sequence.
Your complete timeline
The Welding Technology AAS offers practical welding preparation and a published connection to further applied technology study at Oregon Tech. Ask for a term-by-term plan that includes prerequisites, transfer decisions and application timing.
Plan around the schedule
Ask which shop sessions require daytime attendance and how many practice hours are available outside class.
Application and selection
Compare your placement and prior welding experience with the entry requirements for the AAS sequence. Check the current first-year or transfer admission requirements and whether the major or practical placement has a separate application.

Questions to take to an advisor
What does the transfer pathway cover, and which credits or certifications would I still need?
- What is included in the written price, and what would I pay separately?
- What support is available if my work schedule, disability accommodations or family responsibilities affect attendance?
Published program length is not a personal completion estimate. Transfer credits, prerequisites, selection and course availability can change the timeline.
After the program
Employers may require process-specific welding tests. A college award is not a guarantee of every certification, job assignment or journey-level status.
Cost and outcomes
Published tuition-rate example
The reviewed page lists $136 tuition plus a $14 general/student technology fee per credit and a $40 college services fee per term. At those rates, 90 credits produce $13,500 in tuition and per-credit fees before term fees, course charges, tools, books and living costs. This is a calculation, not a complete program price. The published award spans 90–93 credits; 93 credits would be $13,950 before the same exclusions.
Published tuition or budget base
2026-27 resident tuition is $136 per credit, plus a $14 per-credit general/student technology fee and a $40 college services fee per term. Course-specific charges are additional.
